OSTERFELD, Henry John (Hank), age 86 of Dayton (Miami Township), passed away peacefully October 29, 2012 at Kettering Medical Center. Hank was born February 27, 1926 and was a graduate of Chaminade High School and the University of Dayton, class of 1950. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II spending time in Germany. Hank entered the business world after completing his college career, working for the H.J. Osterfeld Company, mechanical contractors, founded by his father Henry Osterfeld Sr. in 1915. Hank served as President of the company from 1963 through 1995, when it was sold. He continued on in a role as a consultant for a few years as the company transitioned to S&D Osterfeld. He was a member of St. Albert the Great parish since 1957, as well as NCR Country Club. Hank enjoyed playing golf and vacationing at Hilton Head Island, SC with his family, where he owned a second home for many years. He also looked forward to his monthly poker group gatherings and was a longtime University of Dayton basketball season ticket holder. He was also a faithful walker, religiously doing four miles per day starting at age 70, and loved a good steak. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Beatrice Osterfeld; sisters Mary Ann Kenny and Dorothy Baltes; brother Robert Osterfeld; and granddaughter Molly Draugelis. Hank was a loving husband for 61 years to his wife, Millie, and he will be greatly missed. He is also survived by his children Douglas Osterfeld, David (Heather) Osterfeld, Laura (Sid) Juliani, Leslie (Dennis) Weber, Amy Draugelis, and Tim Osterfeld; grandchildren Will Draugelis, Maggie Juliani, Matthew Draugelis, Kate Juliani and Andrew Draugelis; sister Ruth Munger (Raymond); brother-in-laws Chuck Kenny and Mark Baltes; and sister-in-law Pat Osterfeld. The family will receive friends at St. Albert the Great Church, 3033 Far Hills Ave. Friday, November 2, 2012 from 10 am until 11:45 am with Mass following at 12 noon, the Reverend Tom Meyer, Pastor, presiding. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Hank's honor may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
