Herbert Schwind Wagner, Jr., 80, of Beavercreek, Ohio passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. Herb is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Schwind Wagner and Maryellen Connors, and granddaughter Mary Katherine Deubell. Herb is survived by his wife, Sondra, of 51 years, children; Michelle (Rob) Deubell, Herb (Charlotte) Wagner, Scott Wagner and John (Kathy) Wagner. He also had many loving grandchildren; Marcus Deubell, Claire Wagner, Anna Deubell, Alexandra Wagner, Luke Wagner, Greta Deubell, Bernadette Deubell, Jayna Wagner and Lucy Wagner as well as sisters; Sue (Jim) Payne and Nancy (Jim [deceased]) Payne, many nieces, nephews and good friends.
Herb was the president of Wagner Oil, Inc. until he retired in 1998. He enjoyed bike-riding, including bicycling trips in Europe as well as one cross-country bicycling trip from L.A. to Boston in 1994. Herb also enjoyed golfing and taking walks. He was a proud alumnus of Chaminade High School, 1954, and University of Dayton, 1959, and he graduated with a commission as Second Lieutenant in the United States Army ROTC.
The visitation will be on Saturday, November 19th from 9:00 am until 10:30 am at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 1440 N Fairfield Rd, Beavercreek, OH 45432 and a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 10:30 am. Herb will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Herb’s name to Christ Child Society of Dayton, P.O. Box 292058, Dayton, OH 45429 or Elizabeth New Life Center in Dayton, 359 Forest Avenue, Suite 203, Dayton, OH 45405-4559.
