Herbert R. Whisman, age 84, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully at
Ohio's Hospice of Dayton on April 13, 2019. He was born on May 5, 1934
in Campton, KY and graduated from Wolfe County High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of American Legion Post #668 and member of VFW Post #9582. Mr. Whisman was a retired truck driver of Interstate Freight Motor Co. and YRC Freight recognized with over 48 years of safe driving.
A resident of Dayton's Riverside community for over 59 years, Mr.
Whisman was a master woodworker and many of the neighborhood homes
bear his stamp. He loved country music, old Westerns and vacations in
New Orleans. A fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals, he also enjoyed
watching the Carroll High School baseball team from his backyard.
He was preceded in death by his son Clarence Whisman, brothers Telford,
of Vandalia, Arthur, of Harrison Township, sister Hettie McKinney of
Cranford, NJ and wife Eva McQuinn Whisman and Lucille Howard Whisman.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Maleki of Cary, NC,
grandchildren Nick and Rayna Maleki, and stepdaughters Brenda Ortez
(John) of Moraine, Linda Bachand of Dayton and Tammy Wolfe of Florida
and their children and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. April 18 at
Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Avenue, Dayton, 45410, with burial
to follow at Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home
from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday.

Hearth Community Food Pantry in Dayton, Ohio.
