HOERTT, Horace A (Bud), age 90 of Dayton, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2008. He was born in Dayton, OH., on March 12, 1918, the son of Albert and Lola (Craft) Hoertt who preceded him in death. "Bud" was the oldest living member of IBEW Local 82, having been a faithful union member for 65 years. He was a lifelong member of St. Anthony's Church, serving as an usher for many years. As a Boy Scout leader, he was recognized for a lifetime of service to youth by being given the "Silver Beaver" award. He was a member of the Milton Athletic Club and the Gem City Umpires Assoc. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Rose Bergedick Hoertt, his infant daughter Kathleen Hoertt, and infant granddaughter Holly Rauch. Horace is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Dennis (Barbara) Hoertt and Gary (Carol) Hoertt, all of Huntersville, NC, Gregory (Susan) Hoertt of Xenia, and sons, Douglas and Timothy Hoertt of Dayton; daughters and sons-in-laws Rosanne (Charles) Rauch of Orlando FL, Christine (Allan) Stewart of Kingston, TN., Linda (Phillip) Fensel, Sheryll (Barry) McClain, Mary (Merle) Sears, and daughters, Deborah Hoertt, and Lola Rogers, all of Dayton. He is also survived by grandchildren: Patrick, Alan, Michael, and Wesley Hoertt, George Rauch, Christopher, Stewart, and Joshua Stewart, Brendon and Annie McClain, Phillip Horace Fensel, and Erika Rogers. He is also survived by great grandchildren Jacob, Andrew, Alexander, Samuel, Maxwell, Joseph, and Hayes Hoertt, Xavier Torres, and Nathan and Edward Rauch. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 25th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave, Dayton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 26th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Dayton. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to A Brighter Tomorrow Foundation, 500 Kettering Drive, Dayton 45423, benefiting people in Montgomery Country with mental retardation and developmental disabilities.
