Monnin, Howard J., age 87, formerly of Kettering, OH, died peacefully Friday morning, May 6th, at 10:05 am at his apartment at The Miller Place, an assisted living community in Celina, OH.
He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 59 years, Marie, on April 8, 2013.
He is survived by his daughter Pamela (Alvin) Franck of Celina, OH and his son Steve (Jackie) Monnin of Cincinnati, OH; His grandchildren, Laura (Corey) Weis of Celina, OH, Christopher Franck, of Omaha, NE, Sarah and Elena Monnin of Cincinnati, OH; and his sweet little great grandchildren, Lorelei and Dalton Clifford and their father Amos Clifford and Arabella Weis all from Celina, OH.
Also survived by sisters, Joan Honaker, Mary Borden, Lois Franke, Dianna (Chuck) Hatton, and sister-in-law Phyllis Monnin; Parents, Clara and Omer Monnin; three brothers, Roger, Gerald, and Ronald; Sister Doris Neace.
He was proud of his Catholic faith. He graduated from Chaminade High School and attended the University of Dayton where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He obtained his Masters in Business from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Howard retired from Monsanto Company in Miamisburg, Ohio, in October of 1986. After awhile he was offered a part time job at Sinclair Community College as a Professor in the Engineering Department.
Howard and Marie were avid fans of UD basketball, the Cincinnati Reds, and all their travels through the US and Canada.
Their greatest love of all was their family. They were both so loved by their family. Howard will be missed by his family but will remain forever in all of our hearts. He was a great husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa.
A very special thanks to The Miller Place in Celina, Ohio for all their love, special care and support for our Howard. He loved all the staff and they loved him back. To Pam Prater, the director, and her staff: thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Lastly, we would like to thank The Mercer County State Of The Heart Hospice for their loving care of Howard and for making his final weeks comfortable. To all your staff: thank you so much!
Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 am Tuesday May 10th at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Kettering, Ohio. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 am at the church. Burial will follow Mass at David's Cemetery Kettering Ohio.
Donations can be made in his honor to The Mercer County State of the Heart Hospice, Coldwater, Ohio or to The Alzheimer's Association.
