NEFF, Sr., Howard J. age 89 of Centerville passed away Tuesday January 15, 2013. He graduated from Chaminade High School in 1942 where he later was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. Howard was a Fighter Pilot in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Mr. Neff was the president of Cassano's, Inc for 29 years. Mr. Neff served on the Board of Directors at Citizens Federal Savings, the Metropolitan YMCA and the St Elizabeth Hospital Foundation. Mr. Neff was a Charter member in the East Dayton Optimists, Public Accountants Society and Knights of Columbus, St. Henry Parish Council and Alter High School Athletic Association. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Roberta; a sister, Dorothy and a brother, Buerkle. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Joan (Ed) Hussey of FL; five sons, Howard (Connie) of FL, Dennis of FL, Mark (Diane) of KY, Tim of Troy, OH, Chris (Amy) of GA; four step children, John (Andrea) White of Kettering, Barbara (Andrew) Courtice of Centerville, Dan (Marilee) White of Germany, Pattie (Bill) Mikita of Cincinnati; 22 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 14 step grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial, 9:00 AM, Friday, January 18 at St. Leonard's Chapel. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd., Kettering. Burial, Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or St. Leonard's Foundation Benevolent Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
