Howard Schlemann

SCHLEMANN, Howard Peyton age 90, of Kettering, passed away Saturday February 21, 2009. Mr. Schlemann, the son of Frank and Emma (Drapp) Schlemann, was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 500 for 60+ years, and a parishioner of Emmanuel Catholic Church in Dayton. Previously, he was employed with East Dayton Tool & Die. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Schlemann was preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Virginia Schlemann Kender; his sister, Eileen Schlemann Simpson and his brother, Charles Schlemann. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Virginia (Ahlers) Schlemann; his son, Richard P.; Schlemann; grandchildren, Brian (Valerie) Schlemann, Tracy D. (Matt) Schlemann Stanley, Alexander P. (Mandie) Kender, and Andrew Kender; great-grandchildren, McKenzie Stanley and Emma Schlemann; a brother, Frank Schlemann; a son-in-law, Rick Kender; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00am Thursday at Emmanuel Catholic Church with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-7pm at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Avenue and Thursday from 10:30am at Emmanuel Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Heart Association.
