GROMMON, Isabel, 95, of Kettering, Ohio died Friday, March 24, 2017. Isabel was born January 11, 1922, in Jalpaiguri, India, to James and Betsy (Duncan) Mackie. Isabel and her four siblings grew up in Sussex, England. Isabel joined the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force in WWII and served in northern England for the duration of the war. She met an American serviceman, Vincent Grommon, and following the war moved to the United States where they were married on August 10, 1946. Isabel was a woman of deep faith and devoted to her family. She loved her dogs and enjoyed working in her garden. Isabel was preceded in death by her husband Vincent, her sons Michael and James, and her siblings Alexander Mackie, Brucina Stein and Jean Hare. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (Joseph), her son Ian (Diane), her daughter Christine (David), daughters-in-law Susan and Laurie, and her brother James Mackie. She is also survived by her grandchildren Toni, Michael, Stacey, Shane, Tiffany, Stephanie, Carolyn, Shannon, Kathy, Joseph, David, Peter, Robert, Christopher, Paul, Daniel, Sarah, Kelsey and 31 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 9:30 am followed by Mass at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family is very grateful for the care given to Mom by the staff of the Trinity Community of Beavercreek and the nurses with Hospice of Miami Valley. Memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity Community of Beavercreek, Hospice of Miami Valley or the National Alzheimer’s Association.
