Age 73, of Dayton, Ohio passed away on February 15, 2018. Jim was born on June 24, 1944 to the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Lamm) Connell. He was preceded in death by his brother Jerald Connell and sister Kathleen (Connell) Stevens. He is survived by his six children: Beth Moore (Scott Bell), Jim Connell Jr. (Anne), Erin Materu, Tom Connell (Jill), Katie Grant (Aaron), and Brian Connell; and seven grandchildren: Zack Moore, Olivia Connell, Max Materu, Collette and Robert Connell, and Adam and Cass Grant; sister-in-law Sandy Connell and brother-in-law Jim Stevens. Jim was a proud graduate of Chaminade High School, University of Dayton and University of Notre Dame Law School. He served as a Captain in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired after 35 years working as an assistant prosecuting attorney for the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office. Jim was a lifelong member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 20 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave., Dayton. A mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, February 21 at 12:00 noon at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 3033 Far Hills Ave., Kettering. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
