On Wednesday, May 20 2020, Janet Olsen Kizirnis of Centerville, Ohio, loving mother of three children, passed away at the age of 74.
Janet was born on September 20, 1945 in Racine, WI, to Clarens and Dorothy Olsen. She received her BA in Music Education from Dominican College in 1967, followed by her Masters in Education from Wright State University. In February 1968 she married Sigmund Kizirnis. They raised their children Nick, Leslie, and Jennifer in Dayton, Ohio. Janet also ran a successful business, Homespun Herbs, that specialized in coffees, herbs and spices.
Janet was known for her easy-going, gentle nature, her compassionate spirit and grace, and her commitment to taking care of her family. She loved music, gardening, bunnies, and collecting antique silverware. She and Sigmund were also both avid science fiction readers.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her step-father Donald Morrison, and her sister Kathie Troxell. She is survived by her three children, grand-children Emily, Derek, Ethan, Lily, and Joey, and close friend Thomas Sanders.
Janet’s family will scatter her and Sigmund’s ashes at Lake Michigan outside of Racine, WI, in July. While there will not be a public service, memorial donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation:
