Janet Schooley Walker, daughter of the late Helen and Wilbur Schooley and granddaughter of the late John and Margaret Sullivan, passed away November 3, 2009 at St. Leonard's Nursing Home, Centerville, Ohio. She was 92 years old. After 60 years of marriage, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, the late James E. Walker, Sr., former Police Captain for the Oakwood Police/Fire Department. Additionally, preceding her in death, were her infant son, Michael Kevin Walker; daughter-in-law, Christine Walker; and grandchildren, Monica Walker; Karen Sue Goff; and Maureen Lowis. In addition, sisters, Virginia Alexander, Eileen Hartley, Catherine Brown, and Helen Kisch, preceded her in death.Janet is survived by her eight children and their families: James E. Walker, Jr., MA; Sue and Bill Fearney, GA.; Nancy and Gary Braner, GA.; Larry Walker, OH; Mary Beth Marino, GA; Tom and Mary Walker, SC.; Timothy and Valerie Walker, OH; Sheila and Billy Smith of NH., and her brother, John Wilbur Schooley.
Janet was the proud maternal grandmother to 33 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 2 great, great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews in addition to her large family.
A devoted Wife, Sister, Mother, Grandmother and Aunt, Janet lovingly surrounded herself with family and friends. She was very active in the community, giving of herself to various volunteer groups including St. Vincent DePaul Society, Dakota Street Center, and The Dayton Catholic Women's Club. Her passions in life were her children and her unwavering devout Christian faith. She will be sorely missed by family and friends."God welcomes Janet Walker with love and open arms.
