GUARASCI, Jean M. age 65, of Centerville, passed away peacefully July 4, 2009, Mrs. Guarasci was born in Buffalo, New York, the daughter of Charles and Mary Nicometo. She attended George Washington University where she earned her LPN degree. Upon coming to Dayton as a Veterinarian Technician, she met and later married Dr. John Guarasci. Jean, a member of Incarnation Catholic Church, had many interests and hobbies, none larger than her love of Christmas and all of her Christmas decorations. Her passion for sewing led her and her long-time friend, Ruth Ashby, to open "Our Sewing Basket" in Centerville. Later in life, she volunteered a great deal of her time at the Southview Medical Center Maternity Unit. It was there where she befriended many of the nurses, doctors and staff at Southview Medical Center Maternity Unit as she expressed her love and compassion for babies. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Connie Anders; a brother, Charles Nicometo; an aunt, Florence Rapone; and uncles, James Nicometo, Arthur Nicometo, and Frank Nick. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Dr. John "Doc" Guarasci; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. John-Kevin "J.K." & Carrie Jane "CJ." Guarasci; their son, Jacob Guarasci; a sister, Maryanne Anders; aunts, Mary Besimone, Olga Deas, Connie Woodruff all of Alabama; uncles Albert Nick of Alabama and Dominic Nicometo of Florida; a special cousin and friend, Theresa Mattice; and numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Wednesday at Incarnation Church, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-7pm at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road in Kettering. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or to the Southview Medical Center Maternity Unit through the Grandview Medical Center Foundation. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Alejandro Calvo, the Medical Oncology of Dayton staff, Hospice of Dayton, and to the staff at Kettering Hospital for all of the heart-felt professional care Jean received.
