Raiff, Jerome Edward “Jerry”, age 80 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday March 29, 2017. Jerry was a Manufacturing Supervisor at Inland, division of General Motors for 32 years. He graduated St. Agnes in 1951, Chaminade in 1955 and UD in 1959. He played football, basketball and baseball at Chaminade where he was inducted into the Chaminade-Julienne Athletic Hall of Fame and honored as a Distinguished Alumni. He also played football and baseball at UD, basketball and softball in several industrial, City and County leagues and inducted into City of Dayton Softball Hall of Fame. Jerry founded the JBA and JVA at St. Anthony and the Athletic Hall of Fame at CJ. Jerry coached football, baseball and basketball at St. Anthony and football at St. Albert; wrestling at Alter; softball at C.J., Alter, Stivers and Oakwood. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane "Janie"; parents, Herman Joseph and Helen Marie; four sisters, Barbara Ann, JoAnne, Helen, Patty Jo and a brother, Jim. He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Molly (Steve) Hartman, Julie Raiff; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Jerry Jr., Michael (Mary), John; sisters and brother-in-law, Judy Smith, Janie (Dave) Bruno; grandchildren, Zachary (Angie), Dane (Nicole), KT (Tom), Michael, Samantha, Hayleigh, Meghan, Marcus, Patrick, Mia, Walter, Annie, McKenzie, Grace and Great-Grandchildren Camden Heil, James Harbler and Brantley Welch. Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 am Monday April 3 at St. Anthony Church. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00-7:00 pm at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd. Burial, Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial gifts be made for the Jerry Raiff '55 Scholarship at Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School, 505 S. Ludlow St., Dayton, OH, 45402. Our dad would like to thank all of the players who allowed him to honor, to coach and mentor them. He would also like to thank all of the people that befriended him, invited them to their house, places of business, and into their lives. He was humbled by their friendship.
