He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Wenzel Schmitz, his parents, Helen and Jerome B. Schmitz, mother and father-in-law Veronica and John T. Wenzel, and brothers-in-law John T. Wenzel, Jr., Robert H. Musselman and Louis W. Clark III. He is survived by his son Jerome T. Schmitz of Los Angeles, daughter and son-in-law Molly and Bryan Bardine of Kettering, son and daughter-in-law Michael A. and Tracie Schmitz of Delaware, Ohio, four grandchildren, Katherine Bardine, Allison Bardine, Kyle Schmitz and Kiera Schmitz, sisters and brothers-in-law Mary & Richard Brown, Barbara and Clarence Sech, Margaret and Steven Bernard, Helen Schmitz, Kathleen and John Hupman;, sisters-in-law Mary Ann Musselman, Sarah W. Clark, Janet Simon, and numerous nieces and nephews. His Memorial Service and Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday, September 13, 10:30 am at St. Charles Borromeo in Kettering. Friends may call on the family at visitation the evening prior, September 12, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980, Bigger Road, in Kettering.
