Technical Sergeant Jesse Daniel Schierloh passed away on October 14, 2015 in North Carolina. He was born September 25, 1982 at Mather Air Force Base in California. He grew up in Painesville, Ohio, graduating from Harvey High School in 2000 and then attended Lakeland Community College, before enlisting in the Air Force in 2004. After Basic Training, he was given his first choice assignment, to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio from 2005 to 2009, where he began his career as a Scientific and Technical Signals Analyst. He was also a dedicated and proud member of the Wright-Patterson Base Honor Guard, providing military honors at veterans’ funerals in Ohio and surrounding states. He served as the Base Honor Guard Flight Leader from January to September 2006. He deployed to Afghanistan, at Bagram Airfield and Jalalabad Airfield from March to September 2008. His next assignment was on the National Air Force Honor Guard at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C., from 2009 to 2012, serving at Arlington National Cemetery and surrounding areas. He was the Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of Colors Element and of Standardization/Evaluation. He also got to travel as part of the Colors team with the Air Force “big band” ensemble, Airmen of Note. This was his perfect assignment since he loved “presenting the colors” and loved the music of Glenn Miller. He was awarded the Noncommissioned Officer Ceremonial Guardsman of the Year award in 2011. He continued his studies through the Community College of the Air Force, graduating in 2011 with an Associate’s degree in Intelligence Analysis. He was last assigned to Langley Air Force Base, Hampton, Virginia, from 2012 on, as an intelligence analyst. He graduated from the Noncommissioned Officer Academy at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, earlier this year.
He was a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, grandson, uncle, nephew and cousin. He also loved watching ice hockey and his beloved Pens; baseball (he thought baseball stadiums were the most perfect places); British soccer; pro and college football; American and World War II history; the “big band” music of Glenn Miller and others; Brooks Brothers clothing; and sporty cars.
He is survived by his loving family: parents, Mark and Kathryn Taylor Schierloh of Richardson, Texas; sister and brother-in-law , Kate and Keith Bojanowski of San Angelo, Texas, grandparents Dan and Eleanor Taylor of Painesville, Ohio; Aunts and Uncles: Christiane Schierloh of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Tom Taylor of Painesville, Ohio, Diane (Jim) Wargo of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Sue (Larry) Crellin of Perry, Ohio, Debbie (Rory) Roberts of Willowick, Ohio, and David Taylor of Painesville, Ohio; cousins Marie (D.J.)
