TUNNEY, Jewell Dean (Nee Lawson) passed away March 16, 2013 at Hospice of Dayton. She persevered with grace and dignity through many years of cancer and Alzheimer's. She was born in Corbin Ky April 6, 1935. She graduated from Lynn Camp High School in 1953 and moved to Dayton Ohio where she was employed at Standard Register. She met and married Tom Tunney and they began their family with many freinds in Corpus Christi Parish.She was preceded in death by her father, D.J. Lawson, her mother, Mayme, her brothers: William Howard and D.J, Jr. and Bobby and her sisters: Nannie and Betty Jackson. She is survived by her husband of over 56 years Thomas of Centerville, and their four children: Leigh and Michael Pope of Seattle; David and Kathy (Trick) and their children Lauren and Sam of Cincinnati; Kenneth and Judy (Wood) and their children Olivia, Audrie and Gabrielle of Beavercreek and Barbara and Dan Rose of New York City. Jewell was devoted to her children and grandchildren.She was a very talented self-taught seamstress, creating many a treasured Halloween costume, Easter dress and bookbag, as well as all the beautiful quilts she lovingly pieced and sewed for each of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed bridge (especially her Ladies Houseboat Trips) and was proud of her grand slam, her bowling trophies (an 800 series), and her softball playing when she worked at Standard Register. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 20th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road, Kettering. Mass of Christian 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 21st at Church of the Incarnation, 7415 Far Hills Ave, Centerville. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
