Joan Rae (Weis) Shelton

Joan Rae (Weis) Shelton, daughter of the late Raymond and Beatrice Weis, passed away on January 26, 2025, at the age of 95. 

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ken Shelton Sr., brother, Ray Weis Jr., and sister, Rheadele Morrow. Joan’s life was a testament to love, faith, family, and fun.She is survived by her son, Ken (Luann) Shelton Jr.; grandsons, Zach (Katie) Shelton, Travis (Andrea Ames) Shelton, and Kyle (Kellie) Shelton; four great-grandchildren; nephew, Tom Morrow; dear friend, Patty Eberle, and Joan’s extended family on Oleva Drive.

Born in Dayton, Ohio, on October 1, 1929, Joan attended St. Anthony's Grade School and Julienne High School, setting the foundation for a life filled with remarkable achievements. She was passionate with a wealth of knowledge and creativity, inventing the zip-in lining for clothes while in high school, selling the homes built by her husband, and running a successful florist shop. Her contributions to her community and beyond are numerous and lasting.More than her professional accomplishments, Joan was a beacon of love and warmth. She was a devoted mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, and parishioner who cherished everyone she was in contact with. Joan's passion for relationships was evident in the way she treated everyone as family, ensuring they felt welcomed, cherished, and comforted with a full stomach.

Friends and family are invited to attend her viewing services in the WESTBROCK FUNERAL HOME- KETTERING, 5980 Bigger Rd, on Sunday, February 2, from 4:00-7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd., Kettering,  on Monday, February 3, at 11:00 am, followed by a final prayer at Calvary Chapel at 1:00 pm to honor Joan's remarkable life. 

While her passing leaves an irreplaceable void, her memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
