Joseph William Womacks passed away peacefully at home on Sunday April 26th, with the love and support of his family, including his beloved wife Grace and their four children.
Raised in Georgetown, Ohio, Joe was a Korean War Veteran and a graduate of Sinclair College in Dayton. A printer by trade, he began his career with an apprenticeship at NCR, and worked at McCalls and several other printing companies. He purchased a mobile home park and went on to make his living owning and operating several rental properties throughout Dayton and surrounding areas.
Joe was an active runner, and was recognized in 2013 at the age of 82 as one of four octogenarians running in the Miami Valley annual Turkey Trot Race. He went on to participate in the race for several more years. He was a fan of poker, and often played with close friends and family.
Most of all, Joe loved his family more than anything else. He spent over 62 wonderful years married to Grace, the love of his life. Together they went on to have four children; Debbie Corson, Karen Buckey (Alan), Joyce Womacks (Bill Lee), and Joe Womacks (Patti). He leaves behind ten adoring grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Joe was a source of quiet strength to his family. He never complained or raised his voice. He dedicated his entire life to making them happy. It is an understatement to say that we will all miss him dearly.
A private burial service will be held for the family, with a public memorial held at a later date. Special thanks to Touching Hearts, and to our angels Cindy and Sharon, who helped to take care of him. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Joe’s honor to Hospice of Miami Valley.
