Powers, John Glen
John Glen “Jack” Powers, age 75, of Dayton, passed away May 12, 2018, at his home. He was born in Dayton, Ohio, December 4th, 1942 to John W. and Rita (Trick) Powers. John went to St. Anthony’s grade school, graduated from Chaminade High School in 1960, and the University of Dayton in 1964. He married his high school sweetheart, Pam, in 1964. He began his work career at New York Life Insurance Company in Dayton. John retired as Executive Vice President of Carlson Marketing Group in 2001 after 35 years. He loved the University of Dayton and proudly served on the board of UDOLLI for 6 years. John was a relationship man through and through, who always prioritized his family. He enjoyed golf, fishing, the beach, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother Daniel in early childhood; his mother; and in-laws Dr. Arthur P. and Eleanor S. McDonald.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Pam; his seven children: John (Laura), Pam Martin (Tim), Jim (Cara), Patty Page (Greg), Jerry (Kristen), Peggy, and Paula Cvitkovich (Joe); 23 grandchildren; siblings Sharon Goldschmidt (Jim), Karon McLaughlin (Phil), Rick Powers (Becky), and very special in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 15, from 4- 8PM at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 10:30 AM at The Church of the Incarnation, 7415 Far Hills Ave. Memorial donations can be made to christchildsocietyofdayton.org or to fund lung cancer research at breathofhopeohio.com.
