Gale, John R., 85, departed for heaven at 3:20 a.m. on Monday, December 23,
2013, from Hospice of Dayton. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to John and Hattie
Gale, he grew up in Dayton, Ohio, graduated from Kaiser High School, and
attended GE Lighting Institute in Nela Park, majoring in lighting engineering.
During the Korean Conflict, he enlisted into the U.S. Army, where he met his
beloved wife, Jessie. After his service to his country, John worked for 17 years
at DP&L as an industrial lighting engineer, and then started his own lighting
company, D&G Specified. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jessie
(Davidson) Gale, and his children, Cheri and Tim Henderson, Angie and Les Mahan,
Carla and Tim Napier, Michelle and Bill Wheeler, Beverly and Ken Oswalt, John
and Sherry Gale, as well as11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A
spirit-filled Christian, John loved Jesus with all of his heart, and the Lord
used him to lead his family and many friends to a life of salvation. "He fought
the good fight; he finished the race; he kept the faith. And the Lord, the
righteous Judge awarded to him the crown of righteousness on his arrival." (2
Timothy 4:7-8) 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful
with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your
master's happiness!” (Matthew 25:23) John’s viewing will be held on Sunday,
December 29th, from 3-6 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road,
Kettering, OH 45440. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on
Monday, December 30th, at St. Francis of Assisi, 6245 Wilmington Pike,
Centerville, OH 45459. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 1625 Calvary
Avenue, Dayton, OH 45409. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to
