John Griffin Brandt

BRANDT, John Griffin, age 70 of Wilmington passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017. He was born on November 29, 1946 in Wichita, KS to the late, Alvin L. Sr. and Marjorie L. (Griffin) Brandt. Also preceding him in death are siblings, Alvin Lee Brandt Jr., Susan Souder and Ann Nelson. John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, L. Cheryl (Anderson) Brandt; children, Sean A. (Kiersten) Brandt of Vandalia, OH, Christopher J. (CJ) Brandt of McPherson, KS, Heidi (Jason) Schaap of Wilmington, OH; grandchildren, Jonathan E. (Holli), Andrew C., A. Kathleen (“Katie”), Elanor M. (“Ellie”) Brandt, Nicolas (Savannah), Emily G., David F. Brandt and their mother, Marcy Brandt, Carter R., Noah J., Hadassah M., Seneca L., Aidia R., AnnaSophia E., Marija K., Ysabeau L., Micaiah A. Schaap; sister, Lynn (Robert) West, sister-in-law, Judy Brandt and many other extended family and friends. John retired from Via Christi Clinic in 2013 where he was a purchasing agent, and is a USAF veteran. He was a 1964 graduate of Valley Center HS. Friends and family may visit from 6:30 pm-8:00 pm on Thursday, November 30 at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave., Dayton. Funeral service will be 10:00 am on Friday, December 1 at Hope Lutheran Church, 500 Hickory St., Dayton. John will then be laid to rest in the Dayton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Reformed Episcopal Church, Mason, OH or Wounded Warriors.
