John J. Higgins

HIGGINS, John J. (Jack) passed away August 2, 2015 at the age of 90. He was born August 7, 1924 in Dayton to Charles and Marie Higgins. Jack was a 1942 graduate of Chaminade High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from the Elliott Company, a division of Carrier Corp. Jack was a member of Local 225, Machinists and Aerospace Workers, AFL-CIO. He belonged to the Aces Club and was a resident of the Lakewood Apartments for many years. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Dayton where he served as an usher and participated in numerous parish activities. Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Charles (Bud) Higgins and 3 sisters, Ruth Hocfbaum, Mary (Eileen) Freiberger and Elizabeth (Betty Ann) Walkinshaw. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 11 at 10:30 am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Dayton with inurnment to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton. Donations may be made in Jack’s memory to Hospice of Miami Valley or St. Mary Catholic Church. Westbrock Funeral Home is serving the family.
