LOWRY, John P., "Jack" age 88, of Kettering, passed away Thursday June 3, 2010. Jack was a graduate of Chaminade High School, class of 1941, where he was an all-city halfback on the football team. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army Air Corp, and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross award while serving as a tail gunner on the B-17. He was retired from WPAFB where he was a logistician, and he was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the American Legion Post #598, and the VFW Post #9927. Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (nee Goecke); and a grandchild, Jesse M. Lowry. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Helen Lowry (nee Ryan); sons, Patrick M. Lowry & wife Virginia, Kevin M. Lowry & wife Jeanie; step sons, Daniel T. Harman & wife Patti, Christopher W. Harman & wife Monna; three grandchildren, Andrea, Erin and Heather; and one great-granddaughter, Holly. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30am Monday June 7, 2010, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, followed by a burial at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00-4:30pm at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
