OSWALD, John “toot toot”, our Dad, Gramps, Uncle Jack has gone to a better place after 84+ years of life. He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Joe, who passed away earlier this year. He has left behind his wife, Nancy, of 60 years who was his primary caregiver and advocate over his past life events. Dad has 4 other children; Robin (Greg) Shope, Beth (Mark) Widdowson, Kelly and Molly (Mark) Howell; his grandchildren: Emily, Sarah, Kristen, Alex, Andrew, Adam, Ashley (Josh), Sean (Claire), Josh, Jacob, Bryce and Chase; his great granddaughter Ellie. Dad was a Korean War vet who could recall his military number up until hospice care. He married Nancy in 1955, moved to Dayton from Toledo his birthplace, worked for over 30 years selling hoists and cranes for Duff-Norton of which until recently could still get into selling mode. He was a man of the Catholic faith and loved the Fighting Irish. We will miss him especially on Christmas day because it was his birthday. We will miss him singing songs like Three Little Fishes, Chicago, Dan, Dan the Lavatory Man and Five Pockets. He enjoyed Esther Price candies, ice cream, Sunday football and memories of his past. We are grateful to the healthcare providers of MVH, Fidelity, St. Leonard’s Rehab and Memory Care, Hospice of Dayton that Dad was so lucky to have; Gail, Al, Jane and Miriam to mention the least. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Leonard’s Center Chapel. Burial in Calvary Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 9:00-10 am at St. Leonard. Dad will remain in our hearts as an individual who believed in helping the less fortunate. Please consider a donation to St. Vincent DePaul, Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Leonard Foundation, or Hospice of Dayton. Toot too! Arrangements by Westbrock Funeral Home, Bigger Road.
