John C Truxel "Jack"

John C. Truxel, born April 22, 1955 to Eileen (Vermillion) and Harry
Truxel graduated Belmont High School in 1974. Jack died on Feb 14,
2024 at Miami Valley Hospital after a couple of years of battles with
heart, lung, diabetes and kidney problems. After attending Wright
State University, he worked for the Dayton Daily News for 29 years. He
loved driving the truck to deliver newspapers to the branches from
downtown and later from Franklin to various branches throughout the
Miami Valley. Always a reader, conversationalist, humorist, and lover
of movies, he will be remembered for his humor, easy going
personality, enjoying a wonderful meal and good company. He was quite
the cook and loved history and mythology, PBS and Me TV.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister Patricia Truxel Lynch and
brother-in-law Dan Lynch, cousins: Suzanne Truxel Hildebrand and
husband John of Bedford, TX, Ginger Truxel Deaton and husband Walt of
Bellbrook, and Carol Vermillion Farriss and Bill of Dalton, OH. In
Jack's last 5 years he has had a few surgeries and setbacks but he has
always received the utmost care at Otterbein in Springboro for rehab
to get him strong enough to return home. Weekly care at home was
given for this duration from nurses Anna and Bonnie, Doug the PT,
Marci the Social Worker and Avada and Kathy. Dr. Carol Ryan and Dr.
Deshan Harris helped him the last 5 years overseeing good care for
him. While in the final 3 weeks of his life, Dayton Firefighters
helped him get to ER and the Miami Valley Hospital team in the Cardio
ICU including Ryan, Logan, Catherine, Chris, Nicole and Seth to name a
few. The wonderful care team under Dr. Shrivastava and Dr. Ghandi and
others as well as the Palliative Care Team were compassionate and
supportive giving him comfort and peace to the end. Many thanks to
Carolyn Reveal for her wisdom, guidance and her partner Marge Pitman
for their ability to offer help to the family in decisions and making
best environment for Jack to thrive in at home. Also, the family would like to thank Father Uriel Santos for all of his compassion and thoughtfulness.

As per Jack's wishes, there will be a simple funeral service in the
Chapel at Calvary Cemetery at 9:30am Thursday February 22nd.
