John R. Vallo, Jr., age 94, of St. Leonard’s, died September 29, 2020. He was born in Dayton, OH on September 7, 1926 to John Robert Vallo and Clara M. Flohre. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Vivian (Vallo) Berg. John was also preceded by in-law’s Carl Berg, Paul and Florence Kolhoff, Louis and Wanda Brinkman, Vincent and Evelyn Brinkman, Raymond Rettich and Marlene Brinkman. Surviving is his wife of 70 years, Joan (Brinkman) Vallo. Daughter and husband Debbie and Eric Jones and their children, grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, Melanie (Darren and sons Aaron, Ryan), Katie (Zoey, Talon, London, Trey), and Keith. Son Joe Vallo and children Emily and Alexei. Son Matt and Sherie Vallo and children Nick (Kate), Sarah (Kevin), and Megan. Daughter Mindy and Jimmy Koehler. John was a graduate of Chaminade High School and the University of Dayton. He was a WWII veteran with the US Army and a Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. John retired from General Motors after 41 years. He spent the last 26 years as a member of the St. Leonard’s community where he spent many hours volunteering with his wife Joan. His favorite pass time was sitting back watching his family, interacting on vacations enjoying nature, and game days. Friends and family may visit on Friday, October 2 at Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd., Kettering. He will then be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
