John W. Vanden Bosch, 75, passed on March 16, 2024. John was born to Roman and Estelle (Waker) Vanden Bosch (both deceased) in Dayton, OH on April 4, 1948. He was preceded in death by his sister Marie and is survived by siblings Ann (Steve) Kolb, Jim (Mary), and Tom (Mary).
John is the kind of man that everyone loved, respected, and felt accepted by. He never met a stranger and demonstrated God's love for everyone. He had a great sense of humor, especially of the cheesy variety, and had a listening ear. His family was his pride and joy. He always made the time to be there for each one. John is survived by his wife, Ginny, and three daughters - Christine (Mike) Bartz, Mary, and Louise (Kyle) Griffin. He has 15 grandchildren: Nicole, Joshua, Rachel, Kaitlin, John, Teresa, Mary, Joseph, Megan, Jude, James, Angela and Jacob Bartz, and Noah and Maya Griffin. Dad was often found supporting his grandkids in any way he could, whether it was with sports or plays. He also was the conductor of the "Polar Express," driving the kids around the farm on the tractor and enjoying being Grandpa.
John got to live out his dreams here on earth throughout his lifetime. One of his favorite things to talk about was Texas and living the cowboy life. He also was able to take the family (all 22 of them) to Rome, Italy last May for his and Ginny's 50th wedding anniversary. This was a dream and goal of theirs to do for decades. His granddaughter went back to Rome last week, and when John saw the picture of Mr. Gelati, a huge smile appeared on his face. In everything he endeavored, his family was at the center. No matter what the trials or what the joys were, John was full of hope, steadfast, committed and sought to do things in a way that would honor God. He taught us by how he lived, how he loved, and how he believed. He supported and provided for his family in every way possible. John was and will always be an incredible example of what a husband and father is.
John also volunteered his time at St. Vincent de Paul, and was involved at St. Augustine's in Waynesville. He enjoyed both very much.
In John's final moments, another of his heart's desires was fulfilled. He was surrounded by his family who all were saying the Act of Contrition. Truly, John is a blessed man of God who is now in his eternal home with Jesus. Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 am Thursday March 21 at St. Anthony Church.
