Fortman, Joseph A., age 67 of Centerville passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family, Thursday November 10, 2016. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Marie, and his brother, Jerry. He is survived by his loving wife, Julie; a daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Steve Merland of Kettering; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Bob Hutter of Centerville, Sue and Ron Rodman of MN; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Debbie Fortman of IN; three grandchildren, Maya, Collette, and Sawyer Merland; a step son and daughter, Craig Foltz and Cristi Cress; four step grandchildren, Brady, Hannah, Alex and Dylan; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Joseph was born in Dayton, OH but grew up in Detroit, MI. Joseph loved to play and watch sports all his life. He especially loved his Detroit teams, particularly the Detroit Red Wings. Joseph will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his deep love for friends and family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and enjoyed every second of time spent with his grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday November 15th from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd. Services will be begin at 10:15 am at Westbrock Funeral Home Wednesday November 16th, followed by a procession to the Vineyard Church in Beavercreek, Pastor, Kevin Hoffman officiating. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
