Joseph Patrick Herlihy (Joe), proud graduate of Saint Peters Prep in Jersey City, NJ and The University of Dayton, was welcomed into heaven Sunday, June 28, 2020.
Joe was born in 1935 in Hoboken, New Jersey to David J. & Agnes (Pearl) Herlihy, both who predeceased him. Sisters Margaret Cioffi and Kathleen Tovo also predeceased him, as did daughter Baby Angel and granddaughter Anastasia.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Caroline/Terri (nee Turner), and their children: Christine, David (Kris), Kevin (Tammy), and Larenna (Nick) Kuechly. Grandchildren: Ben, Paulie, Shannon, and Erin Herlihy; Joe Herlihy; Josh, Caleb, Bethany, Joelle, Daniel, and James Kuechly. Great grandson: Seth. Sister: Patricia.
Joe semi-retired with over 50 years in the life and health industry, principally with the Cincinnati Financial Corporation. Most recently, he was the business manager for son David at Floorco Flooring, Miamisburg, Ohio. Joe lived as a faithful husband, devoted father and grandfather, and added fun and laughter to many gatherings with his humor. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and watching sports of all sorts, especially if his kids or grandkids were playing. He was a member of Ascension Catholic Church for more than 50 years where he volunteered over the years on various projects, most recently as a mass greeter. He was also a long-time member of Milford Jesuit Spiritual Center in Cincinnati. Joe was an avid fan of UD Flyers football and basketball.
He met his “bride” Terri on UD campus in Brother Paul’s Coffee shop. The rest was a blessed walk through life together.
The family will greet friends at Ascension Church, Woodman Drive, on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 from 10 AM – Noon. Mass of Christian burial at 12 Noon. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The University of Dayton football program, Learning Tree Farm, or Hospice of Dayton. Arrangements by the Westbrock Funeral Home.
