Westendorf, Joseph L., age 97, of Dayton, passed away Wednesday November 10, 2010. He was born on 12-12-12 to the late Joseph and Olivia (Heil) Westendorf. Joe was a World War II veteran and a long-time parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church. "Dody" was also a life-long U.D. Flyer fan, a member of the U.D. Flyers Club, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #500, and a 75 year member of the Catholic Order of Forresters. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-seven years, MaryAnn (Fiely) Westendorf; three infant children; six sisters, Viola Westendorf, Ceil Westendorf, Irene (Byron) Froehle, Bertha (Bud) Helmig, Florence (George) Kramer and Helen (Joe) Nealon; and three brothers, Albert, Walter (Grace), and Eugene (Betty) Westendorf. He is survived by daughter, Eileen (Tom) Long; son, Joseph H. (Deborah) Westendorf; three grandchildren, Melanie (James) Wilson, Adam Westendorf, and Ashley Westendorf, who is currently with the U.S Army in Afghanistan; brother Jerome (Pauline) Westendorf; sister-in-law Dorothy Fiely and numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30am Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-5pm at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Miami Valley Chapter or to St. Vincent DePaul.
