Juanita Marrinan

Juanita M. Marrinan (Tipton), passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, a few weeks after her 95 th birthday. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, to Otis W. Tipton, Sr. and Anna Marie Tipton on November 22, 1929.

Juanita was a graduate of Julienne High School, graduated from Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, and completed her B.S. in Nursing from the University of Dayton. She secured her teaching certification and taught at Immaculate Conception Elementary School for 10 years. Juanita ultimately returned to nursing and spent another 14 years at St. Elizabeth Hospital before retiring. Juanita utilized her medical background volunteering at Twin Towers Senior Apartments in the city of Dayton and periodically made trips assisting underserved citizens in areas of Appalachia.

Juanita was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward L. Marrinan, Jr., in 1981, her dear older brother, Otis W. Tipton, Jr. in 2024, and her infant great-grandson, George Leo Mendel Marrinan in 2019.

She is survived by her three sons, Ed (Janet) Marrinan, John (Judy) Marrinan, Pat (Teresa) Marrinan, and daughter, Eileen Conley; grandchildren Ellen (Ben Snodgrass) Marrinan, Megan Marrinan, Eddie (Jessica) Marrinan, Kevin Marrinan, Elise (Andy Bagherian) Marrinan, Tim (Jennifer) Marrinan, Paul (Andrea) Marrinan, Elaine (Antonio Martinez de Aragon) Marrinan, Dan (Emily Sue Tomac) Marrinan, Erin (Rob) Onesko and Matthew Conley; she is also survived by great-grandchildren, Charles and Oliver Snodgrass, Alex, Max and Jax Biltz, Sawyer Marrinan, Sophie Whitfeldt and Eugene and Caroline Marrinan, Dylan and Clara Martinez, and Lily, Addison and Charlotte Onesko.

Juanita is also survived by her dear sisters, Joan (Bill) Trick, Nancy Hammons, and sister-in-laws Anna Tipton and Pam Marrinan.

It is with immense gratitude that the family thanks Caroline Nolan and Chris De Aloia for the support they provided us and the love, dedication and friendship they extended to Juanita as they cared and advocated for her during her difficult period of declining health.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be considered to the following organizations that were aligned with Juanita and Ed's lifetime of work and favorite charities.


-The Juanita Tipton Marrinan Scholarship provides economic support to Health Science students interested in pursuing State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certificates at the Green County Career Center. -The Foodbank Dayton provides the infrastructure for more than 100 member food pantries, community kitchens and shelters that serve as the charitable hunger relief network in Ohio's Montgomery, Greene, and Preble Counties. Donations are accepted at https://thefoodbankdayton.org

- The Edward L. Marrinan Jr. Memorial Scholarship assists deserving full-time students who are enrolled in the School of Business Administration at the University of Dayton. It was established in 1984 to honor the memory of Mr. Marrinan, a dedicated and much loved professor at the University of Dayton. Family and friends will celebrate Juanita's life on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at St. Leonard Church, 8100 Clyo Road, Centerville, OH. Visitation will start at the church at 10:00 AM followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.
