Julie Oakes

Julie D. Oakes, age 57 of Xenia, OH passed away peacefully at Hospice of Dayton on May 31, 2024. She was born in Dayton, OH to Nelson and Theona (Dimitriou) Russell and graduated from Xenia High School, class of 1984. Julie went on to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse, obtaining her Bachelors in nursing from Springfield Regional School of Nursing, and her Masters degree from the University of Phoenix. Julie was selfless, caring and passionate about her career as a nurse. After working in the medical field for many years, Julie transitioned over to the education side and taught nursing classes at Fortis, and then Hondros. When she wasn't pouring into her work, Julie enjoyed spending time at the campground, and especially loved spending time with family. Julie was preceded in death by her father Nelson Russell, she is survived by her husband of nearly 37 years, Jim Oakes, her son Chris (Melynnda) Oakes, daughter Bridget (Tyler) Bundy, grandchildren Jameson and Gavin Oakes, and Cecilia and Elaina Bundy, her sisters Susie Hoover and Kristine Petrick, her mother Theona Russell, and a host of extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 5-8pm at Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd. Kettering, OH. There will be a graveside service on Friday, June 7th at 11:00am at Valley View Memorial Gardens, 170 N. Xenia Rd. Xenia, OH 45385.
