Fahner, June Mary (Hockey), age 86, of Huber Heights, was born September 21, 1929 in Dayton, Ohio, to Clifford & Dorothy Hockey. She passed away November 12, 2015 at Hospice of Dayton. She was a graduate of Wilbur Wright High School; earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Lake Forest College and her Master’s Degree from Northwestern University. June had a career in teaching that lasted almost fifty years. She began teaching in Evanston, IL, teaching kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. She returned to Dayton and was employed by the Dayton Public Schools for approximately 47 years. She taught in several Dayton Public Schools, ending her career at Fairview High School as a Guidance Counselor. During the summer school breaks she traveled the world, often with her mother as her traveling companion. She said there was only one continent that she had not traveled, Antarctica. June was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Frank Hockey; and a nephew, Dennis Hockey. She is survived by two nieces, Dayna Pinney (Chuck) and Denise Hockey; a sister-in-law, Patricia Hockey; two great nephews, Roger Pinney (Christa) and Jason Pinney; two great-great nephews, Allan Pinney and Brian Pinney; and numerous relatives and friends. There will be a graveside service at 1:30pm Monday at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton. Arrangements by The Westbrock Funeral Home.
