SHEELER, Karen Pfeffer Feb 7, 1956-Nov 7, 2010, age 54 of Dayton passed away after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born to the late Dorothy JoAnn (Cramblett) and Joseph Anthony Pfeffer and raised as a small child in Hillsboro, OH with her six other siblings. After the death of her mother, she was raised in the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Orphans Home in Xenia, OH along with three other siblings where she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1974. She received her bachelor's degree in Business Education from Rio Grande College. Later, she earned her master's degree in Guidance Counseling from Morehead University. She taught school for many years, one year in the Rock Hill School System in Lawrence County, 6 years as a business teacher at Manchester High School in Adams County, 6 years as a guidance counselor at Fayetteville High School in Brown County, and ended her career at Northmont High School where she remained until her retirement in 2009. Her family was her passion. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Ernest Sheeler; her beloved son Corey Christian who resides in Ironton, OH; step son, Ernie Jr., who resides in Cedar Rapids, IA and her step-daughter Katrina (and Keir) Barker of Dayton, OH. Three siblings have preceded her in death, Susan Elliot Calvert, Joseph D. Pfeffer, and James L. Pfeffer. She is survived by siblings Peggy (and Phil) Thompson of Solsberry, IN; Deb (and Steve) Moniz of Xenia, OH; and Sam (and Lynn) Pfeffer of Clayton; six grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. Karen loved being with her family and friends and in her free time enjoyed putting on her boots and digging in the soil, for flower gardening was her passion. Karen received much support in her final years from the Noble Circle Project, a group of women striving beyond cancer. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM on Thursday, November 11 at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave., Dayton, OH followed by final services at 6:00 PM. If so desired, donations may be given to the Noble Circle Project.
