Kathleen A. Stevens, 70, of Dayton passed away Friday, October 6, 2017. She was born January 8, 1947, in Dayton, daughter of the late Elizabeth and Thomas Connell. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, James Stevens, son Douglas and his wife Christina Stevens, daughter Kimberly (Stevens) and husband Tony Wallace, brother James Connell and sister-in-law Sandra Connell, both of Dayton, grandchildren Autumn, Colin, Logan and Zoe Stevens of Plainfield, IN and Brooke and Sarah Wallace of Franklin, OH, two step grandchildren Brittany and Kyle Wallace of Middletown, along with many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and loving brother, Jerald.
In her youth, she belonged to the Ancient Order of Hibernians and performed as an Irish Dancer throughout all of Ohio. In her 30's she authored a book, Fun with Berverly Clearly, and was a long time member of Kappa Kappa Iota, a sorority for teachers.
She attended St. Anthony Catholic School, Julienne High School and University of Dayton, where she graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Education.
Kathleen was an elementary school teacher for 36 years until she retired in 2011. She was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. She was honored with Teacher of the Year in 1993 at St Anthony Catholic School. She was given a teacher grant by the Cincinnati Archdiocese for her school program WSAS in 1994.
In her time off, she enjoyed quilting, sewing and cross stitch, along with spending time with her loving grandchildren. She also supported Breast Cancer Awareness, as she bravely fought breast cancer for 18 years.
She is remembered as being a wonderful woman by all who knew her and will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Services will be held at Westbrock Funeral Home on Wayne Ave, Tuesday, October 10th from 6-8pm. Celebration of Holy Mass will be Wednesday at 10 am at St. Anthony Church.
In lieu of flowers, she has requested a donation to the American Cancer Society, or due to her love of pets, a donation to your local Humane Society.
