Vest, Kathleen M. (Kathie) age 84 of Kettering passed away peacefully at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton on November 13, 2023. She was a 1960 graduate from St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing. She enjoyed a 40 year career as a registered nurse with multiple stops along the way, primarily at Franciscan Medical Center (formerly known as St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center). After retiring from St. Elizabeth’s, she went on to work for Dayton Dialysis and United Health Care. In addition, she volunteered countless hours with Catholic Social Services assisting with Refugee Resettlement. She was very active with her children’s activities at Immaculate Conception Grade School and Carroll High School. Involvement included girl scout leader, band booster, and PTO as well as using her nursing skills to volunteer as athletic physical nurse and festival first aid nurse. She also enjoyed camping and traveling with family and friends and attending various sporting events.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Marvin L. Vest. She is survived by her loving children Meg (Mike) Lang, Mark (Laura) Vest, and Maureen (Mike) Bereda; 7 cherished grandchildren Sara (Michael) Dabbelt, Kevin (Jana) Vest, Matthew (Samantha) Vest, Alan (Francesca) Vest, Cassidy (Hunter) Cope, Zachary Bereda, and Jacob Lang; and 6 great-grandchildren Bennett, Bryce, and Bailey Vest, Walter Vest, Lucia Vest, and Annette Dabbelt. She is also survived by her siblings Michael Sweeney, Thomas Sweeney, and Mary Sweeney.
The family will greet friends from 2:00-5:00 pm on Sunday Nov 19th at Westbrock Funeral Home 5980 Bigger Road Kettering. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday November 20th at St. Francis of Assisi 6245 Wilmington Pike Centerville, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery.
