WHISTLER, Kathryn (Corrado), Funny. Fearless. Fabulous. On July 2, 2019, we lost the fantastic soul of Kathryn.
Kate was born in Dayton, OH on May 14, 1972. She grew up in Trotwood and loved her childhood home and upbringing in Westbrook Village where she learned to love swimming, carefree days, the pool and life outdoors. This grew into her love of boating and her new house on the Rough River Lake in Kentucky, one of her very favorite places on earth.
Earning her Construction Management degree from University of Cincinnati, Kate retired after 25 years in the construction industry as a Regional Vice President for The Hammes Company. Over Kate’s career, she planned and constructed hundreds of millions in state-of -the-art healthcare facilities for a variety of healthcare systems. She was passionate about this work. Her clients and their patients were and will continue to be the beneficiaries of that passion for years and years to come.
Kate was also passionate about athletics and this led her to coaching swimming and soccer for her alum Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School. She enjoyed growing the swim program for many years while mentoring and impacting hundreds of high school athletes. The last three swim team coaching seasons she was honored as the Greater Catholic League Coach of the Year....all while battling cancer.
Kate was known for her quick wit, candor, acceptance of others, positive spirit, and strength. She never missed a party, even up to her very last days. Her fierce love and protection for her family and siblings never wavered. You could always see Kate’s happiness and smile with a beer in her hand and friends and family gathered around-Kate at all times the ringleader of the jokes and stories.
Kate leaves behind husband William (Bill) Whistler, children Quinn Corrado, Matt Whistler, Kate Bagienski (Ross), and Mia Whistler; grandchildren Ruby and Theo Bagienski; parents Vince and Marcy Corrado; siblings Marty Corrado (Rosie), Matt Corrado (Kathryn), Elizabeth Weizman (Larry), Yvette Moy (Jack), Gail Okafor (Gregory); dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and numerous friends.
