WAGGONER, Lavern E. (Rudy), age 82 of Dayton passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 14, 2016. He was born in Webster City, Iowa on January 1, 1934 to the late, Winfield Karl and Edith Mae (Dilley) Waggoner. Also preceding him in death is his wife, Sydney Joann and daughter, Sydney Rene. Rudy is survived by his sons, Lance (Beckie) Waggoner, Scott (Terri) Waggoner, Barry (Debbie) Waggoner; grandchildren, Jordan, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Lance Elway (Maria Tirben), Jesse Jacob (Emily Schaar), Noah Thomas; sister, Jean Moore of AZ; brother, Larry Waggoner of CA; nieces and nephews, Jerianne, Rhonda, Cindy and Joel Bledsoe. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Dayton VA Cemetery with full military honors, lying Rudy and Sydney to rest. A highly decorated war hero of the United States Marine Corps, Master Sergeant Waggoner served 1 tour in Korea and 2 tours in Vietnam. Rudy and Sydney relocated to Dayton in 2009 from Nevada to spend their golden years with family and grandchildren. Rudy enjoyed fishing, going to movies with family, collecting marine core memorabilia, being a proud member of the Marine Air Traffic Control Association (MATCA), attending family events, and driving his children and grandchildren crazy. His infectious smile and veracious sense of humor will be greatly missed by all.
