HORVATH, Lawrence (Larry) John passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2014 at age 73. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Loraine Horvath and his brother Allan Horvath, brother Eugene Horvath and sister-in-law Phyllis, and sister-in-law Marilyn Horvath. He is survived by his children Emily Crawford and son-in law Chris Crawford, Sarah Yeppez and son-in-law Noel Yeppez, Richard Horvath and daughter-in-law Jessica Horvath, his grandchildren Christopher, Sebastien, Elena and Noel Anthony, his brother Roy Horvath and sister-in-law Pat, brother Carroll Horvath, his sisters Julie Horvath and Gail Horvath and many nieces and nephews. Larry graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from University of Dayton. He was soon drafted into the Army and served in the Army Corps of Engineers in Vicksburg, Mississippi. After his service, Larry followed the oil and gas industry to New Orleans and then on to Houston, where he lived the rest of his life. He is remembered for his wonderful sense of humor which he maintained to the very end of his days. Larry leaves a musical legacy as well, in the form of a family guitar which he passed to his niece Laurie. The guitar changed hands many times as more nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews learned to play on that same guitar. He was a great engineer, a loving father, grandfather and uncle, and a good friend and will be sorely missed. A visitation will be held at Corpus Christi Church 527 Forest Avenue Dayton, OH 45405 on Friday, August 29 at 9 AM with the funeral mass following at 10 AM and internment at Calvary Cemetery.
