Lawrence Mackey

Mackey, Lawrence H., age 72, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 5, 2012.He was the son of the late Julius and Cecilia Mackey. He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty years, Anita Glaser Mackey, along with his two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa (Bill) Zimmer and Kimberly (Greg) Harnett. He was blessed with eight grandchildren who gave him great joy: Max Harnett, Tess Harnett, Tate Harnett, Beck Harnett, Chris Zimmer, Lisa Zimmer, Drew Zimmer and David Zimmer and by his three brothers, Thomas Mackey, James Mackey, and John Mackey, along with his two sisters-in-law Elizabeth Hiebendahl and Franci Mihok, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, Bob and Lois Ulrich. He was preceded in death by his siblings Mary Catherine Luchsinger, Father Robert Mackey SM, Paul Mackey, William Mackey, Joan Allensworth, Rosina Klase, Gerald Mackey, and Lois Mackey. Larry attended Chaminade High School, followed by service in the US Navy and was a graduate of Sinclair Community College. He was employed by Chrysler for thirty-six years. His community of faith was St. Charles Borromeo Church where he was actively involved in the nursing home ministry. He was a member of the VFW post 9927, American Legion post 598, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. A celebration of life Mass will be held on Saturday August 11 at 10:30am at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Kettering, Ohio. The family will receive friends prior to Mass from 9:30-10:30am at the Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Charles Borromeo Church or the Elizabeth New Life Center
