KLIN, Lenore Marie was born March 13, 1926, in Illinois and passed away September 23, 2018 in Dayton, Ohio. Daughter of Urban Alexander Klin and Helena Irene (Sieg) Klin, Lenore and her family moved to Dayton, Ohio early in her childhood. She was preceded in death by her long time friend and colleague, Elizabeth Crumrine, and her very special friends Margaret Ann Brown and Mary Elizabeth Tape.
Lenore attended Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, WI, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy in 1948. Her Master’s degree in Education is from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI. Lenore was also a 1971-1972 MHJF Jennings Scholar. Lenore spent her entire occupational therapy career in the service of children with disabilities. She worked with hospitalized children in the South, prior to returning to Dayton, Ohio to care for her mother. Her career in Dayton spanned 35 years at Gorman School, a self-contained elementary school for children with disabilities. Lenore loved traveling around the world and throughout the United States with friends and making new friends wherever she went. Lenore was a member of the Order of St. Luke’s, Centerville Civic Women’s Club, Soroptimist Club and the Dayton Knitting Guild. Lenore was an avid bridge and domino player, enjoying the competition and her game-playing friends for years. Lenore loved knitting her special booties for every newborn and sharing her gentle smile and giving friendship with everyone she met. Lenore is survived by her close cousin Marilyn Averdick (Steimel), her husband George, Marilyn’s seven brothers and sisters, and many friends who considered her part of their family. Lenore will be missed by all who knew her and shared in her zest for life. Friends and family may visit from 4-6pm on Friday, September 28 at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd., Kettering and also from 10am-11am on Saturday, September 29 at St. Henry Catholic Church, 6696 Springboro Pike, Dayton. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00am on Saturday at church. Lenore will then be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. or Hospice of Dayton.
