GARNER, LEROY E., age 80, of Kettering, departed this life peacefully Monday, December 27, 2010 under the gracious care of Hospice of Dayton. He was born October 13, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Albert & Merl Garner. After graduating from Kiser High School in 1948, Leroy served our country as a United States Marine during the Korean Conflict. He was a proud & active member of the Shiloh Sportsman Club, the American Legion Post 598 & the Boy Scouts of America Troop 55 of Englewood. A quiet & modest man, Leroy found special comfort in the outdoors. His long standing passion for fishing, coupled with a deep love for his grandchildren, lead to many precious memories both on & off the water. His sharp wit, contagious smile, & steadfast loyalty to family & friends has forever touched the lives of those who were blessed to know & love him. Leroy is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Victoria A. Garner; daughter, Kimberly Garner, son, Lee Garner; step-sons Carl Romer & wife, Jill; Mark Romer & wife, Melissa; Greg Romer & wife, Coryn; 6 grandchildren: Danielle Hurt, Elizabeth & Gregory Romer, CJ & Danielle Romer & Nathan Romer; sister, Doris Shade and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Albert & Merl Garner; brothers: Donald & Norman Garner. Visitation will be held, Wednesday, December 29th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road, Kettering 45440. Funeral Services 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 30th at Kirkmont Presbyterian Church, 3377 Shakertown, Beavercreek. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Hospice of Dayton.
