Michel, Lillian May (Couvion)
age 95, passed away June 25, 2011 at Heartland of Miamisburg, Miamisburg, OH. Born in Los Angles, CA on May 29, 1916, she grew up in Dayton, OH, graduated from Julienne HS in 1934. Lillian was a veteran of the US Army having served her country in the Women’s Army (Auxiliary) Corps (WAAC/WAC) during WWII from 1943 until she was honorably discharged in 1945. Preceeded in death by her loving husband Ray V., sister Mary Anna, brothers George, Robert, Charles (Bud) wife Viola, & Louis (Jake) and wife Betty, brother-in-law & sister-in-law Irvin and Loretta (Michel) Sansbury. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Michelle (Toby) Petrie, Jeannine (Richard) Doak of Jensen Beach, FL, Nanette (Jim) Pack, Cherie Michel (Ken Anderson, fiancé) of Katy, TX, Michael (Angie) Michel of Pompano Beach, FL; grandchildren Dena Meek, Todd Pack, Nicole (Kory) Veletean, Tim Pack, Adam Michel, Danielle Michel; great grandchildren, Malisa Brauch, Samantha & Benjamin Veletean, and several dear nieces, nephews & cousins. During her lifetime she was a wonderful mother and homemaker who will be fondly remembered by her children for sharing her numerous talents including baking, flower gardening, sewing, crocheting and bowling. She was employed at The NCR, Rike’s, was chief clerk at the city’s Selective Service Office & then worked at Montgomery County Domestic Relations Court, retiring Jan, 1985. For many years she was a member of St. Albert the Great parish were she was an active member of the Legion of Mary. After moving to Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1987, she enjoyed traveling, volunteering her time with the USO, the VA Clinic in Oakland Park, FL (where she was known as “The Cookie Lady”) and held many offices with the WAC’s Palm Tree Chapter #84 of the Women’s Army Corps Veterans Association and was a member of the Gold Coast Women Veterans.
