Lois Mae Heine Brun

Lois Mae Heine Brun
On October 18, 2023 Lois passed away surrounded by family and was reunited with her husband of 52 years, Walter E. Brun. Lois was born on August 28, 1930 to Frank and Lucille Heine in Kankakee, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents and only brother, Dale Heine and sister-in-law, Audra, as well as her grandson, Jeremy Brun.

Lois is survived by her nine children Steve (Patty), Diane (Roger) Heil, Randy (Peggy), Michael (Judy), Ken, Brian (Jenny), Dennis (Lisa), Robert (Jill), Janine (John) Schlangen, 31 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, her nephew Chris (Julia) Heine, and niece Kelly (Jeff) Bliss and a multitude of Brun/Heider nieces and nephews.

Lois was a proud graduate of the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois. She began her career at Rike’s in Dayton, Ohio. Lois was a devoted wife, mother and friend to many. Her strong faith and commitment to her church guided her life choices. Raising nine children was no small task, but her dedication to instilling her faith and values in her family was paramount. And to think she did all this while never disclosing who was the official “golden” child among her seven sons, and two daughters. She took the secret with her!

Aside from enjoying her family’s many activities and being available for her family whenever needed, she enjoyed serving and volunteering throughout the years at church functions and retreats, as well as meeting with and supporting women of her parish on a regular basis. She was a long-time member of Immaculate Conception and most recently, Ascension Church. She spent many years as an aid in the church’s child daycare program. In recent years, she was a faithful volunteer with the International Creche Collection of the Marian Library at the University of Dayton. Lois had a love for camping, gardening, cooking (with hot sauce, please) sewing, painting, and crafting, and her friends and family were often the grateful recipients of her talents!
