Loras Gerard Berns, 61, passed away on March 29, 2025, in Wilmington, Ohio. Born on July 12, 1963, in Dayton, Ohio, Loras spent his life rooted in the values of hard work and hands-on craftsmanship, which started with his love of tractors from his childhood spent at his grandparents farm in Wisconsin.Throughout his career, Loras was a skilled heavy equipment mechanic and operator. His expertise and dedication to his trade were evident in every project he undertook. Whether operating machinery or repairing complex systems, he brought precision and pride to his work. Loras found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed spending time with friends and could often be found browsing flea markets for hidden treasures. A man of the land, he had a deep appreciation for farming. His passion extended to tinkering with and rebuilding tractors and equipment, activities that reflected both his mechanical talent and his love for restoring what others might overlook. He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Berns; his sister Diane Babcock and her husband James; and his brother Steven Berns. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Berns. May Loras’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a reminder of a life lived with purpose and skill.
