PLEIMAN, Lorena, age 95 of Rockville, Maryland and formerly of Dayton and Kettering passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017. She was born on October 24, 1921 in Versailles, Ohio to the late William and Anna (Duwel) Schlater. Also preceding her in death is her husband, Roy B. Pleiman, along with her eight brothers and sisters, Julius Schlater, Eleanor Schulte, Clarence Schlater, Emereda Stein, Cletus Schlater, Gregor Schlater, Leona Schlater and Doris Schlater.
Family brought her great joy and she was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. Lorena is survived by her children and their spouses, Lois (Eric) Hough, James (Joanie) Pleiman; grandchildren Rob (Courtney) Macfarlane, Lisa (Chris) Van Horn, Amy (Matt) Collins; Stephanie, Doug and Ali Pleiman; and 6 great grandchildren, Chase, Reagan and Carter Macfarlane; Collin and Claire Van Horn; and Henry Collins; and many other extended family and friends.
Lorena worked at the Frigidaire Corporation, Kettering Law Library and Kettering Oakwood Times over the years. She was a member of the Dayton Catholic Women’s Club and Keen Club, and volunteered hundreds of hours with Kettering Hospital. She also loved crafts and knitting and enjoyed watching Flyers basketball and Reds baseball.
Friends and family may visit from 4:30-7:30 pm on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave, Dayton. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at St. Albert the Great Church. Lorena will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities or the Dementia Society of America.
