It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret L. “Peg” Arnold, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She entered heaven peacefully on April 15, 2025 after celebrating her goal of reaching 95.
Peg’s faith was the cornerstone of her and Bill’s life. She couldn’t wait to start her day with devotions, followed by her word puzzles in the paper.
Peg was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 ½ years, Billy; son, Gregory; father, Paul Dumford; mother, Glenna Dumford, along with her sister, Charlotte McCord.
She is survived by her cherished daughter, Lynne (John) Collins, adoring grandchildren, Monica (Tony) Tabisz, Thomas “TJ” (Lindsay) Collins, and Christina (Brent) Olivia; loving great-grandchildren, Camille, Charlee, Henrik, Bodie, Rhett, Ryker, Peyton and Jael; niece, Leslie Ann Lang.
Peg was a 1948 graduate of Wilbur Wright High School, later graduating with a degree in Bookkeeping from Miami Jacobs Business College. While her husband was in the service, she moved in with her father-in-law to help care for him, showing that family always came first. She worked at the “field” during that time and stayed home when her children were small until they were all in school before returning to work. She served as a bookkeeper at many area businesses, including Flagel, Huber, Flagel and Don Meyer before retiring from Anchor Rubber, where she served as their head bookkeeper for 15 years.
Peg enjoyed spending her early years sewing, making most of Lynne’s clothes by hand when she was a child. She enjoyed baking for her family and church, traveling with her husband and babysitting her grandchildren. For the last 10 years, she made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, often enjoying the company of her great-grandchildren.
She loved serving her Lord, visiting shut-ins and her friends from church. Peg was a faithful member of the Normandy Methodist church and was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church.
A private celebration of Peg’s life will take place, and she will be laid to rest at the side of her beloved Bill in Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
The WESTBROCK FUNERAL HOME-KETTERING is serving her family.
