MACMULVAN, Margaret Marie (“Peggy”), age 83 of Centerville passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Peggy was born in Holyoke, MA in 1938. She earned an associate degree from Immaculata College in Washington D.C. and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Elementary Education from the University of Dayton. She retired as a first-grade teacher from Edison Elementary School in Dayton where she touched the lives of many students. She was a member of the Patterson Park Child Conservation League of Ohio; Good Grief Gals Hospice Group, Edison Babes Retired Teachers Group and a member of the Dayton Knitting Guild.
Peggy was known for her kind and compassionate nature. She loved spending time with her large family and was a devoted sister, mother, grandma, great grandma and loyal friend. She was sustained by her faith and made it a point to count her blessings and encouraged others to do the same. She enjoyed reading, attending the arts and decorating for the holidays. She explored her artistic side later in life.
She was preceded in death by her parents John F. Sullivan and Eleanore (Kennedy) Sullivan and sisters Mary and Connie Sullivan and brother Daniel (Mary) Sullivan all of Holyoke Massachusetts and beloved daughter, Peggy Makley Strom of Bexley, OH. She is survived by daughters Mary Makley Wolff of Milford, OH; Kristen (Scott) Gygi of Cincinnati, OH; Erin (Raed) Dweik, of Moreland Hills, OH; and son Marc (Becky) Makley of Carlisle, OH; and son-in-law Tim Strom of Columbus, OH. Grandchildren: Evan and Chloe Wolff, Natasha and Griffin Strom, Ryan Gygi, Zayn, Senna and Qyce Dweik and Matt (Sierra) and Jake (Morgan) Makley and Step grandchildren Jamie Honious and BJ (Andrea) Honious. Great grandchildren: Mya, Brayden, Rilynne, Jayse, Alayna, Trey, Trevyn, William, Cailynn, and Crew.
She is also survived by brothers Sean (Rita) Sullivan of Naples, FL; Dr. Patrick (Lynda) Sullivan of Marshfield, WI; and Michael Sullivan of Holyoke, MA. Sisters Kate (Mike) Bowcutt of Tremonton, UT; Eleanore (Stan) Kobylanski of Holyoke, MA; and Christine (Ray) Allen of Annapolis, MD; sister-in-law Mary Sullivan and a host of nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Friday, November 19 at St Francis of Assisi, Centerville followed by laying her to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
