Margaret Ann Rings

Margaret Ann (Cox) Rings, 86, of Dayton, OH, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2019 at her home. She was born on October 28th, 1933 to Kollme and Pauline (Simmons) Cox in Troy, MO. She grew up in Troy with her parents and siblings; Sam and Frannie.

Margaret graduated salutatorian of her senior class at Buchanan High School in 1951. After high school, she attended the Deaconess College of Nursing, and graduated in 1954.

Margaret met her husband-to-be, Reed Rings of Kansas City, a University of Missouri veterinary student, on a blind date in January if 1957, and they were married the following Spring on June 1st, 1957 at the University of Missouri Presbyterian Student Center Chapel.

To this union were born six children:  Bret, Blane, Matthew, Melissa, Marcie and Seth. The family lived in Troy for a short time in the mid-sixties, and moved multiple times as Reed's veterinary career took the family on a wonderful odyssey of adventure: Columbia, MO, Grand Ledge, MI, Baton Rouge, LA, Omaha, NE and Waterville, OH. They finally retired near children and grandchildren in Dayton, OH.

Over the years, Margaret worked many nursing jobs out of her joy in caring for her patients: at doctor's offices, hospitals, nursing homes and private nursing care. Though she greatly enjoyed nursing, her greatest blessings and happiness were raising children and building a Christian home. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, sewing, bird-watching and being a good life-long friend to so many people in her life.

She was a faithful follower of Christ and enjoyed regular church worship, was involved with Bible Study Fellowship, and served the Lord as a counselor at pregnancy crisis centers and the director of numerous church nurseries.

Margaret is survived by her large, loving family; husband, Reed Rings, her children and spouses: Bret and Leigh Ann Rings, Blane and Crystal Rings, Matt and Toni Rings, Marcie and Don Solin, and Seth and Kelly Rings, and Margaret's sister, Frances (Cox) Cathcart. Margaret enjoyed a special relationship with her sister-in-law, Kaye Albright of Dallas, TX.

Margaret has 10 grandchildren, Ana Kay (Pedro), Scout (Brian), Alex, Jetson (Karla), Skylar, Cooper, Evan Margaret (Josh), Mesa, Sarah, Parker and 2 great-grandchildren, Riley and Walker. Her friends are innumerable and loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Ronald Cox, Samuel Cox, and her daughter, Melissa Margaret Rings.
