AGNEW, MARILYN JEAN (Wellmeier), 3/21/36-8/04/2010, age 74 died peacefully, from complications due to cancer, Wednesday morning at Kettering Hospital, surrounded by her family and parish priests after receiving the sacraments and final goodbyes. She is survived by Thomas, her high school sweetheart and husband of 52 years. Three daughters: Carol Jean Shugars, Susan Lee Delong and Lori Michelle Melloti, one son, Thomas Jr., son-in-law, Lawrence (Tex) Melloti, daughter-in-law, Lynelle (Nelly) Agnew, six grandchildren: Mandy Krouse (Joe), Matt Shugars, Jessica Delong Shier (Andy), Megan Melloti, Molly & Tommy Agnew, two great-grandchildren: Ayden Shier & Abram Krouse, sister, Carol (Ed) Koehnen and brother, Don Wellmeier. Marilyn had simple pleasures in life, taking great pride in her family, friends, home and gardens. She was genuinely interested in her friends and neighbors' families and activities and spent many happy hours daily on the phone talking with them. Marilyn had a quick wit with a fun loving, happy personality and loved to laugh. In her mid life years she became an accomplished distance runner and everybody would recognize her running through the streets of Centerville with hankie waving from her wrist. She spent 23 years as Bishop Leibold's school secretary and took pride in remembering all "her kids" names when seeing them around Centerville. When talking with someone Tom didn't know, he would say to her, "Let me guess, one of your kids?" She would smile and say, "Yep." She loved to play bingo on Thursdays at Ascension School and made many friends there. Her gambling streak extended to an occasional trip to the casinos and one lucky number she just had to play daily. But her biggest passion was fishing for the "big one" yearly in Canada. We are all going to miss her dearly, but we know she's won her highest, most important reward in heaven. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 8th from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home (5980 Bigger Rd., Kettering). Father Lawrence (Stretch) Mierenfeld will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, August 9th at 10:30 a.m. at Church of the Incarnation (7415 Far Hills Ave, Centerville) with graveside services immediately following at Centerville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Leibold Schools Library, 6666 Springboro Pike, Dayton 45449.
